Hi everyone! Let me start by thanking you for reading my story, sharing, and/or donating if possible. My daughter Madison is 14 years old. I’ve had an unfortunate and unforeseen situation arise involving custody/time sharing between myself and Madison’s father. Madison has recently struggled with some anxieties regarding this situation which is very much expected and understood. Due to the emotional trauma and stress that can typically come with any court matter, her father and I have mutually agreed to appoint a “Guardian ad Litem” to represent Madison so that she does not have to undergo the turmoil of going into a courtroom, appearing in front of a judge, and testifying. In family court, a guardian ad litem (or GAL as they are sometimes referred) is a person who the court appoints to act as an independent investigator and make recommendations as to what solutions would be in the best interests of a child or person with a disability. Madison’s best interest and needs are in the hearts of both myself and her father. While we may not be able to agree on certain things, we do agree to take any precautionary measures to assure that our daughter is shielded as much as possible from the stressors of seeing her parents in court, or furthermore having to testify about anything that may come up. In Madison’s case, an attorney has been appointed to represent her. While it is optional, it is in Madison’s best interest to proceed in this manner. I have created this fundraiser in hopes of raising money to help cover the cost of the Guardian ad Litem to be the voice for Madison so that she may be heard, yet protected from any possible trauma, in this matter. I would like to say thank you again for reading my story. Whether you are able to donate or not, please share my story and help me get the word out. I appreciate any help that can be given and with your help, WE can give Madison a voice!
