26 mile kayak in aid of MND Association, Wirral
Donation protected
Hey! We’re Anna & Eleanor and we’re currently training for a 26 mile kayak marathon up the River Dee to raise money for the MND Association, Wirral Group.
Throughout 2024, Vital Group have pledged to support the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association, specifically our local Wirral branch. As part of the Charity Committee, we decided that we wanted to go the extra mile, and set ourselves a challenge to raise even more money outside of work for such an important cause.
Motor Neurone Disease affects the nerves known as motor neurones. These nerves are found in the brain and spinal cord, and they help tell your muscles what to do.
With MND, messages from the motor neurones gradually stop reaching the muscles, which causes the muscles to weaken, stiffen and waste. This can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and even breathe.
MND is life-shortening and there is currently no cure, with up to 5000 people in the UK currently living with the disease.
The MND Association, Wirral Group is a charity that carries out incredible work that supports people living with MND across the Wirral. The charity is focused on improving access to care, research and campaigning for people affected by motor neurone disease.
Our 26 mile kayak will take place in August (date tbc). We hope you’ll consider donating, even a small amount will help us reach our target of £1000.
Thank you for your generosity!
