An Alert Dog For Xander

Hi my name is Melissa, and I am the mother to a very special little boy named Xander. He is 9 years old now, but when he was 4 he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. It has been a very hard road with one trip to Peds ICU when he went into DKA at age 7. His sugar, even though we check him every 3 hours,is still very difficult to control. He goes from one extreme to the next very quickly and without warning. I have found the solution in a Diabetic Alert Dog that can smell the the chemicals change in his blood, and alert me to a coming change in his sugar. This dog will be more than just a pet for Xander it will be his best friend, and my back up so nothing is missed. These dogs are very expensive, but well worth it. Please help me to give my baby boy the help we need to keep his sugar at a safe level. That includes all the testing needed to make sure that the pup has a good enough nose to detect the changes and the right temperament to be a good service dog. It also includes on going assisted training to make sure that it continues to give Xander many years of stable sugar levels.
