South African Missions Trip

We have been
given an amazing opportunity! We have been invited to be a part of Hope
Chapel's youth mission trip to South Africa.
The trip, which has been planned for more than a year, will take place July 29th through August 11th. We will be traveling to Durban, South Africa, to work with a team called Timothy Project. We will spend the majority of our time in Sezela, about one hour south of Durban. It is a sugarcane mill town, and everyone in the town works for the company. We will be working with three local churches (Indian, White and Zulu) as well as a local school that has been underfunded for years. We have been granted access by the principal to run a daily Vacation Bible School for students at the school. We will also spend time in downtown Durban working with another church and its youth group. We will be working with urban poor in a variety of settings, such as backyard bible clubs, street evangelism, sports, and worship. This is an opportunity to minister to, and be ministered by, God's global community.
As many of you remember, we traveled to Tijuana, Mexico, in 2005 with our then 14-year-old son, Tobie. That experience had a huge impact on us as a family, and with Eli being around the same age, we would love to share this unique experience with him. In Tijuana, the trip was focused around serving the Mexican people by building homes and repairing existing homes. This trip is more about relationship building and working with children.
We need to raise $7,500 ($2500 per person) for travel expenses and meals on the way down and back. We're writing to ask if you will consider sponsoring a portion of our trip expenses. We would be honored by your participation in our mission trip experience. Your donation is tax deductible. We hope to raise all of our support by July 1st. If you are not able to support us financially, please pray for our travel and that God will use our team to make a difference and bring a smile to a child's face.
