Ryker Lei was born October 13, 2015 at 35 weeks by emergency c-section. He weighed 5lbs 10oz and went to 4lbs 10oz within an hour. He was born with a birth defect called Gastroschisis. We were aware of the issue in the first trimester of pregnancy but you never know how bad the outcome with be till the child is born. Ryker lost over 85% of his small intestines and 50% of his large intestines. He now has short bowel syndrome. Ryker is TPN (IV) dependent, he doesn't eat anything. He has had 5 surgeries, 9 blood transfusions, hundreds of doctor appointments, tons of ER visits and around 5 months total of hospital stay. Ryker has been throwing up a lot in the last 5 weeks and doctors seem to be lost. We severely need to get him to Boston (#1 for SBS). I've been told numerous times that OK Medicaid will not help with covering transportation or medical cost. I am still fighting this as of right now. They will try to send him to Omaha, Nebraska children's hospital where they do intestinal transplants. We DO NOT want a transplant at all cost. It just buy us more time with Ryker instead of fixing him and also in the long run would cost SO much more (intestinal transplant cost $1.3m and he would have to get 3+ and eventually body would give up). So please, if you have a spare 5$ or anything we would appreciate it more than you know. If not, we completely understand. Please keep Ryker in your thoughts and prayers.
