In September of 2016, the Timberlane communities will officially kickoff a ‘School Year’ long celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Timberlane Regional High School – how far we have come in a relatively short period of time! In September of 1966, the first students entered the doors of Timberlane Regional High School and we think that’s reason for celebration of both that milestone and all those that followed.
The recently formed TRHS Alumni Association is thriving and we are formidable! We have registered with the state of NH and the IRS and are ready to start giving back to the New Hampshire communities that made that fateful decision more than fifty years ago to provide the best education possible for the students of Atkinson, Danville, Plaistow and Sandown.
The main goal of the TRHS Alumni Association is to award scholarships at every Class Night / Scholarship Night starting with the 50th graduating class in June of 2017 so that these students can carry forward the education that they receive in these hallowed halls to their chosen continuing education establishments, culminating in a successful career that will make us all proud to say that we played a part in their success.
In our kickoff year, our priorities are to get name recognition, increase membership and to raise enough funds to award scholarship money by June 2017. Toward those ends, these are some of the planned activities:
This year’s Homecoming Weekend is going to be held on the second weekend in September and it is going to be phenomenal – the first of many! We are planning a full weekend, starting with multiple sports activities on Friday afternoon and finishing with the football game against Salem on Friday night.
Continuing throughout the weekend at the campus on Greenough Road, we will introduce you and your families to the TRHS Alumni Association, the changes that have taken place over the years to the campus and some of this school year’s students who are helping us make this possible. We hope you’ll plan on joining us to see how much Timberlane has grown and reconnect with all your High School friends and staff.
There will be a dinner-dance at the Atkinson Resort and Country Club in April 2017 combined with a silent auction and one more raffle; the tickets are $45 per person, limited, and selling fast!
We plan to award our first TRHS Alumni Association scholarship at Class Night in 2017 and finally,
We will round off a ‘School Year’s’ worth of activity by participating the 50th graduation from Timberlane.
Here’s how you can help…
You may have already seen some of our members selling raffle tickets at May’s production of The Sound of Music at the Performing Arts Center – the event was a huge success and we are grateful to our alumni that donated such wonderful prizes and the theater-goers who so generously bought tickets.
You will see us selling raffle tickets, selling Dinner-Dance tickets and soliciting donations at many of the community events over this Summer; Memorial Day in Atkinson, the TRHS 50th Birthday-Themed Old Home Day in Plaistow, Danville’s Old Home Days in August and now on this Go Fund Me page. The generosity of postgraduates and businesses in our four-town community enables our Association to raffle off wonderful gifts and prizes at no cost to the TRHS Alumni Association.
You can designate whether you wish your contribution to go directly to scholarship funding or if you’d prefer to help us cover our operating expenses – the mundane stuff like governmental filing fees, insurance policies, supplies (most of our members are contributing their time and efforts to make this Association a success). You can even let us know that you want to buy a Dinner- Dance ticket (or two!)
The TRHS Alumni Association is a 501(c)(3) charity, all of your donations will be tax deductible.
If you’d like to do more to help, please consider joining our growing group. We meet on the first Saturday of every month at the High School – all students and alumni are welcome!
