Who Are We?

WheelWOD is a not for profit program that provides daily programming, info videos, seminars and a place to share for Adaptive Athletes that use assistive devices such as wheelchairs or canes to move throughout thier exercises. We mainly focus on seated athletes as that is our specialty but we try to share and help all athletes with any adaptations needed while exercising.

This year for our second year we adapted the CrossFit open and ran an online competition for seated athletes with catagories: Rx Men, Scaled Men, Rx Women and Scaled women. We had 64 athletes compete from 7 different countries. From the Open the top male and female automatically Qualified for this years inagural Championships. from there we held an online Qualifier to find the other top 4 females and 8 males and 1 wild card spot which went to the males this year. This was done with 3 workouts released and 1 week to accomplish these video them and submitt online.

What we need?
We are looking for funding to aid in the travel costs for these athletes to get to canada and aid in accomodations as well help handle some equipment costs to adapt the fitness needs of the championships.

How will the money be used?
any funds donated will be dispersed between the athletes that request and we will do our best to cover any financial needs for the individual athletes. Any money left over will be used to off set the out of pocket expenses we have to purchase equipment for the championships as we do not have sponsors as we are piggy backing on a larger event to create a venue with crowds of over 1200 athletes. We are super thankful to UG series to help us in that aspect but we do have larger costs that we are paying out of pocket to make this event a great success.

What this means to the athletes?
This is the first opportunity of its kind for seated adaptive athletes to come to a stage this large and compete on a level where they are equals. because of such far distances we have not been able to bring the best to one location and compete for the title. So to have this a possibility it is incredible and a chance to grow the sport of competitive fitness in adaptive athletes. This will create opportunities and awareness for thise who have suffered life changing injuries or been born with a disability that may once been seen as a "handicap..." our mission is to show the world that no matter the circumstance you have been dealt, we can adapt, we can prevail and we will show anyone who doubts what the human spirit is capable of. We are strong, We are athletes and we will defeat anything sthat attempts to hold us back.

We are asking for $7000.00 dollars as a minimum and thats only 1 dollar from every instagram follower we have at wheelwod. We know everywhere is a great cause but we believe helping these athletes is not only helping them but every other potential adaptive athlete in the world who is thinking of starting or not even aware yet. With this money you will help open doors, avenues and potentially a new life out look for so many peopl in the world just looking for a reason to move forward with life.

Thank you for your contribution.
