New Bathroom

Donation protected
My brother and I run a small remodeling company and we were contacted a few weeks ago by a super sweet couple wanting a quote on patching a few places in their bathroom and kitchen  floors.

I went by to take a look at the project and realized that this was much more than just patching the floor.  I also realized a few other things about this situation that pulled on my heart.

The husband worked in the steel industry for years and suffers from COPD.  He is currently unable to work.  The wife is working, but is also battling intestinal cancer.  In talking to them I learned that his father had been shot and killed recently, and they found a mass in her lungs that could be more cancer!  I know it just sounds like too much!

I asked them what their budget was and they gave me a figure that was way too low to do what really needs to be done.  I have seen enough in my career to know that this floor and framing needs to be completely removed and replaced.  The house is almost 100 years old and they really just need a whole new bathroom!

I would love to be able to go in and rip out the old fixtures, flooring and sheetrock, treat the place for mold, replace the floor joists and subfloor and give these guys a whole new bathroom!

This bathroom is the only one in the house and it is without a doubt unsafe for use. The floor is literally sinking in around the toilet, there is black mold and mildew under the flooring and the shower is sinking as well.  The situation is simply unacceptable- especially for people with compromised immune systems!

My brother and I are willing to donate our time, tools and abilities to fix this problem for these folks, but I was hoping we could raise some money to help pay for materials, mold treatment and any additional labor costs to meet this need!   I am new to GoFundMe, but I am hoping that together we can raise the funds to turn this bathroom into a clean and safe place!

There is a place in the kitchen where the refrigerator used to sit that is caving in as well.  Apparently there was a leak in an unused supply line for the ice maker that damaged the floor to the point that it can no longer support weight.

My goal is to raise $5,000 as quickly as possible so that we can take care of these issues ASAP! That combined with our volunteer work should be able to take care of  all of these problems!   Honestly if we can raise more than that it would be awesome!  In an ideal world I would love to be able to do this at no cost to the homeowner so that they can save that money or put it towards medical bills.

Any additional funds would be allocated to helping the couple with medical bills or fixing a few other problems around the house that are perhaps not quite as urgent, but still need attention.

Please pass this along to anyone that might able/willing to help!   Thank you so much!

This is the tub.  I suspect strongly that there will be structural damage underneath.  I am hoping to be able to replace it with a new, basic fiberglass tub and surround, with similar new, but basic fixtures.

This is the floor beside the toilet.  You cant tell from the picture, but the toilet is leaning over quite a bit and I honestly think that most of the weight of the toilet itself is being supported by the cast iron drain pipe underneath and not the actual floor!
