Darrell Corwin’s GBS Fight

In December 2019 Darrell was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome which quickly took away his ability to move his body and breathe on his own. Darrell spent 4 months in the James, OSU Hospital in Columbus, 3 months in a nursing home and another 2-1/2 weeks in OhioHealth Acute Care Rehab. He has been home since July 24th with home health care nurses and physical and occupational therapy. They are working on getting his hands and feet stronger with the goal to stand up on his own. He will then have to go to outpatient therapy for a few months or so until he is able to walk on his own. He got a power wheelchair last week, which gives him some independence. This disease, Guillain- Barré Syndrome (GBS), has totally changed our life in many ways. He is still in need of some equipment that Medicare doesn’t pay for and all the extra supplies we need to buy weekly for his needs. On top of this, he is on 10 new medications which doesn’t include the other 5-6 other meds. Thank you for all your prayers, good wishes and support. We love and appreciate everyone so much. ❤️
