Healthy Again

Jordan, my American Pit Bull Terrier, is in need of surgery to remove Numerous Hemangioma’s, blister like blood filled sores. These sore have grown in mass and bleed excessively and are painful when they rupture. They bleed excessively days and blood flow becomes less as they heal. Surgery will be approximately $800 which includes $150 cost for blood work. Jordan is schedule for surgery Tuesday, October 6. The vet has reassured me that Jordan is not in extreme pain but it’s enough pain to cause him anxiety, loss of appetite and avoids any contact. It seems as if petting is painful. Jordan rescued me some 8 years ago. I fell in love with Jordan the instant I saw him. I didn’t hesitate and walked in over to introduce myself.,. To greet him being that I feed the dogs at the ranch and I was happy to see a new addition to my circle of canine friends. I was arms length away just about to pet him when I froze as I realized “you’re a pit bull” As I slowly backed away (his eyes glued on my every move) I said “good doggie please don’t tear me to pieces... please don’t kill me... nice pit bull”. Once I was at a safe distance we made eye contact and I remember thinking what an amazing creature... he looked so soft... the most beautiful breath taking eyes ever... I fell in love.. eyes overflowing with sadness and pain it brought me to tears... I told Jordan he was going to be my doggie... and his name will be Max...Maximilian means “great” and truth be told you are Max! But Max wasn’t sitting right... didn’t seem perfect... didn’t seem to work... later that night it hit me... Max tomorrow I will give you a new name... Your name will be Jordan after Michael Jordan (MJ) of course. And so it was official.... Jordan Chance Garcia.... my boy... my baby... my doggie... told me he was about a year and a half when at the time. He was a stray that found his way to my brother in laws ranch. He fit right in and got along with the other dogs at the ranch but was reserved and kept his distance from people. Jordan made himself at home and One day I notice Jordan limping but didn’t think anything of it. he was hit by a car and we took him to the vet. The cost for his surgery was $5000. Lucky I was directed by Actors for others Organization to Sunnymead Animal Hospital (45 mins from where I live). The vet there told me his fracture was extreme and Jordan had a 50/50 chance of recovering and the worst case scenario would be losing his leg! The vet told me that his breed is strong and the olds were in his favor! My brother in law paid $1000 cost of his surgery and I nursed him back to health and became a member of the family. When I first met Jordan he was skin and bones.... and had fresh scars on his body. Because he is as aggressive as a cotton ball but strong (true to his breed) he was used as “bait” the vet informed me while she examined him. She also told me that he has what she believed to be a bullet (22) that didn’t exit on his ear. It breaks my heart to think what his life was before... Jordan went from being a stray to being my baby! When from sleeping on dirt to sleeping on a cal-king pillow top mattress. Went from being starved to always having a fresh bowl of ice cold water and every now and again sharing a stake with me. I’ve pampered Jordan perhaps I’ve just given him a home where he is safe and adored! I didn’t rescued Jordan, Jordan rescued me.... He is the loyal friend I needed and his unconditional love fills the void in my life!
