Deposit for a conversion handicap accessible van

My dad is a paraplegic, he has not had use of his legs since February of 1993. He never let his injury stop him from trying to find a way to survive and to be the best dad he knew how to be. Even though, as he has told me recently, he wished he could have been that dad that built the lemonade stand I wanted as a kid. My dad has been the only person that understands me as a person and we've always been pretty different and that usually means we don't fit with most people. The people we have in our lives and the few things we find joy in are all we have. Not to mention, a vehicle is damn near a necessity for some that aren't disabled. Which is why I'm starting this fundraiser. My Dad had a handicap accessible van that he had converted to have a ramp and a rotating front seat. With the middle bench removed. It had hand controls for the gas as well. He bought this van in the 90s with a student loan (and paid for the conversion, which alone nowadays costs up to 30,000$) he drove that van my whole life. He always said "I can't afford another one, I'm going to run it into the ground" well, unfortunately, it wasnt him that ran in into the ground. A trusted friend of the family was paid to do some work on the van and had done so quite a few times before without fail. However, this man wound up drinking on the job and he ended up getting behind the wheel while intoxicated and he totalled the van. My dad didnt even tell me for a couple of weeks. I had to go to his house to visit him and discover it on my own. My dad had begun his own business buying and selling pennies and other old coins and he settled for doing this as full time work. This was 7 years ago. My dad has never seen Wawa in Bradenton. As of late, he's expressed concern about needing a van to travel to nearby coin dealers and to attend doctor visita. He is not in any condition to use public transportation, he recently had a three month stay in the hospital due to sores on his body. The one day we got him out of the house a little over a year ago...he let myself and my youngest son's father(who never saw him out in public before this) take him to the DMV. So he could renew his driver's license, then to a car dealership for him to be able to co-sign on the first car I'd ever bought. I wish I could go back in time to prevent myself from doing this. my Dad was hopeful once I did this id be soon on my way to making more money (I was a driver for Lyft and Uber) and finding better employment than the longtime job I held that didn't pay quite enough. He sacrificed his own needs like so many other times he's done for me in the past even if he was in pain and needed to get home, whatever the case was...he always did his best to cover everything I needed and most of the things I wanted. I crashed as hard as can be financially, mentally, and spiritually about 6 months into having that vehicle it was repossessed. This was the time my dad was in the hospital for 3 months. And before that stay, he'd been in and out. It wasn't looking good for him for a little while when he was there. I ended up being hospitalized myself while he was there for psychiatric reasons. Even if I could do anything to help him get a loan, both of our credit histories got hit with a repossession. I am now back working a regular job, and I am digging into finding contact information for organizations that assist with this kind of thing. I know there are charities out there, though it is difficult to get assistance when you are disabled and employed as my dad is even though he works for himself. However, any amount of help is genuinely needed. Part of the reason I did a fundraiser was to actually bring some hope toy Dad. He has come across quite a few people who have discarded him for being handicapped and he used to be treated very very differently when he was able to drive around and go out. As of late I have witnessed many instances that prove to me things are getting slightly better in that regard when it comes to people in wheelchairs. I have been considering posting this sort of thing for awhile now, and I was always sure I'd never properly get across to people reading that this isn't just some poor old souls irresponsible daughter that put him in debt. I intend to do everything in my power once I am earning more money at work as I am struggling to pay my own necessities. I just want to see the light back in my dad's eyes again and I want him to have his independence back. If you took the time to read this, thank you.
