Ok so i have never done anything like this before so bear with me. I moved into my elderly parents house to help take care of them and pretty much everything. Mom cannot get around much any more but up until this year dad was doing ok. Then 2020 happened and everything has gone to crap. Dad had a major cardiac arrest died and was brought back. He was in the hospital for over a week. Now normally I would not say this was a good thing but during this time with all the tests they found some cancer in his lung. They caught it early and has now gone through surgery and will start chemo next month. Here is where it gets difficult. So now neither of my parents can walk the stairs in their house anymore. I have the house up for sale (praying it sells quickly) but now i need to be able to buy a house for everyone that does not have any stairs and hopefully get some in home care for both of them. I currently do have not have the best credit (have some medical bills in collections) and there is the parent plus loan for my son's college. By the way if you have or are looking into a student loan try to stay away from Navient. The original loan amount was for $25,000 and for some unknown reason it has risen to over $40,000. They are seriously ripping me off and no one will help with that, they do not see a problem. Go figure. There is also the car I just bought in January that I need to do something about but I owe more than it is worth. But that is another long story. (do not ever but a car from Henry Brown, they lie and cheat). So I am begging for help here please. I just need enough money to pay off the medical bills in collections and this parent plus loan. If I can get that I should be able to get a decent mortgage and move my parents into as place that does not have stairs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know everyone has a lot going on right now (it is still 2020 after all) but I am hoping there is still some good out in the world. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I tried to keep it as short as possible. The photo is dad in the hospital when he had his cardiac arrest, we were not able to visit him because of Covid but the wonderful nurses video chat with us so we could talk to him while he was trying to recover. Unfortunately he pretty much had to go through all of this without family by his side. But special thanks to all of the nurses at the hospital who were there for him.
