I CAN-CER VIVE

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Stephanie. I am a divorced mother of three fabulous adult children whom I have raised to be free thinking individuals while doing my best to instill a strong understanding of the Golden Rule.

After a difficult and lengthy divorce, losing my baby brother to a motorcycle accident, my mother to lung cancer, my father to liver cancer and facing my own health issues of Fibromyalgia, Arthritis and multiple spinal conditions I thought I had probably faced some of the roughest things that life was going to throw at me. I had survived with my head up while doing my best to remain happy and optimistic.  I learned to use the healing powers of laughter and love to strengthen myself and maintain forward motion.

And then I had my routine annual mammogram. I was called back for a re-check which quickly became an ultrasound, biopsy and diagnosis of Triple Negative Breast Cancer.  That was June 2012. 8 months ago. So many things have happened since then. I have finished 3 different types of chemo and 7 weeks of radiation.

During radiation I was having some nausea and vomiting. In an attempt to find a cause, my Radiation Oncologist ordered a CT scan. No reason for nausea was found, however a mass was detected on my right kidney. Diagnosis - Cancer.

In April I will have a laparoscopic partial nephrectomy, removing the mass and part of my kidney. It is at that time we will learn if it is kidney cancer or a breast cancer metastasized to the kidney. I am praying for my Oncologist's opinion that it is kidney cancer, another primary vs metastasis.

I have no insurance, and am unable to work, so I am turning to the Warriors of my life and of our glorious world for some assistance. As a good friend of mine, and a fellow breast cancer soldier, says "Cancer is expensive". Not only are there the expected costs of weekly blood draws, dr consultations, chemo drugs, other prescription medications, diagnostic tests and radiation treatments, but there are so many unexpected things. Gas back and forth to the Cancer Center, head covers, over the counter medications of many kinds, special foods because of appetite changes or mouth sores, pain medicatons, and well.... you get the point.

My goal is to recover from the kidney surgery and live long enough to tell stories about this "battle" for another 40 years. I am grateful for all of the love and support I have received thus far. It overwhelms and humbles me. Any contribution to help me with this financial aspect of the war on my cancer is appreciated.
