<div>A dear family friend of mine who is 25 years old was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She will undergo a 6-hour surgery and faces a long and painful recovery. Doctors will be removing three tumors in her throat, two lymph nodes, thyroid gland, parathyroid glands, her muscles on the right side of her throat, and part of her trachea. She will lose mobility of her right arm and will need radiation.
