Amos’s very own land for 2 cups of coffee ☕️

Amos Shelter is based in the Balkans. It’s the only shelter in the capital city Skopje that takes in homeless animals and takes care of them until adoption, with the help of donations. We are a NO KILL policy shelter, so any animal not suitable or too ill to be rehomed stays with us (becomes our permanent resident). We have kennels, three catteries, as well as shelter for many other species such as wild birds (owls, storks, eagles) and reptiles (snakes, turtles). There’s a law on how a pound sort of shelter should look, however there is no law on shelters such as the one we are trying to build. We are trying to build a shelter where animals will not be returned back into the streets after they are spayed/neutered, but will stay with us until they find a suitable home or until the end of their lives. For us to achieve our goal we need to either rent or buy land and we rely only on donations. The government isn’t giving any grants, any tax reductions. In fact, there isn’t even any existing spay/neuter program, lots of homeless dogs and cats have their babies on the streets and it has become a major issue in the country. Because of the overpopulation of homeless dogs on the streets, many starve, give birth constantly, and many people try to resolve the issue in their own hands (by killing them, poisoning them, beating them)... We are trying to change this way of life for the animals and trying to raise awareness. Our shelter, at the moment, is in rented government land, where we used all our funds to build kennels, catteries, and a safe fence around the shelter and are now left with no funds. We have to comply with any demands given to us by the veterinary and food agency such as the last demand of having a stronger generator for more electricity, which with the help of the people who donated (without your donations we wouldn’t even existed anymore), we managed to secure a bigger generator. Now, the newest obstacle we have to pass is that we have to relocate. This week, we found out that the government is planning to sell out the surrounding plots to the private developers and build an apartment complex on it. The place, that we are located now is being urbanised (the municipality just approved an urbanisation plan) and based on the existing law we cannot have a shelter in such a place. The shelter needs to be at least 500m far from the last house around it. We have been given only a few months to relocate! The good news is that we found another land, outside of the city, with a very good price. The price is £10k, and the owner of the land offered to wait 2 months for us to collect the money. The owner is in a hurry as well, the land costs much more than the price given however, because the owner needs the money urgently they are selling for a much lower price. The owner is willing to wait only two months, after that they will sell elsewhere which means due to prices around, we won’t be able to afford any piece of land and we won't be able to transfer our fence, cattery and anything we have. It will cost too much. It’s actually our one lifetime opportunity to buy land and build the permanent shelter there. Now, this is a big sum, we know that. £10k is a lot of money, we won’t be able to find it without you. It is not impossible! Just imagine. We have 5000 followers, if each of us donates £2, less than one cup of coffee, we could raise this money in a day! We know that not everyone can afford donations, so let’s say if 2000 of our followers would spare buying a cup of coffee for two days and if they all donated £5 each we would still be able to raise the sum!
