A Cappella Academy 2020

Hello!

My name is Ivana Colon, and I am a 17 year old singer from Louisville, KY. December 2019, I auditioned for A Cappella Academy, a 10-day vocal camp held in Los Angeles. After not being accepted in 2019, I was determined to give it another go this year. I did not allow last years disappointment to stop me. So when I got accepted this year, I was so EXCITED!!! And to know that only the top 13% are admitted, I'm even more excited!

My life revolves around music. It's my favorite and the most important thing in the world to me. I was introduced to the a cappella world the year before high school when I saw my current high school's a cappella showcase. I was instantly hooked and since then I have been involved in an a cappella group through my school and have followed many popular groups on their competition journeys, music releases, etc. The way that we can come together to make music and to perform stories for audiences is the best feeling, and it's amazing to do it with my best friends. The opportunity to share my love for a cappella with so many others at Academy just as passionate as I am is so exciting and I can't wait for this experience!

Tuition for camp comes up to $2,250 (not including airfare to and from LA from Louisville). My ultimate goal is to raise enough money to attend camp without putting any financial strain on my mom. I see how hard she works as a single parent, taking care of everything in the household, and I just want to make things easier for her, and also make this happen for me!!
