Tyesha Peterson...My Journey

We are the proud cousins of Tyesha Shani Peterson.  We are raising money for this amazing young lady.  Tyesha whom we call Ty was diagnosed in November of 2011 with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML), a type of cancer that starts in certain blood-forming cells of the bone marrow.  This change forms an abnormal gene called BCR-ABL, which turns the cell into a CML cell. The leukemia cells grow and divide, building up in the bone marrow and spilling over into the blood. In time, the cells can also settle in other parts of the body, including the spleen. CML is a fairly slow growing leukemia, but it can also change into a fast-growing acute leukemia (as it did with Ty) that is hard to treat.  When she told us her diagnosis, the world stopped making sense;  how can something so bad happen to someone so good?  Now instead of Ty asking, why is this happening to her, she has  been a warrior, strong and faithful to God throughout it all, not only is she smart, beautiful, caring, charismatic, hilarious and selfless; she is one of the strongest and most positive young lady that I know, Ty changed our attitude from negative to positive. Don’t get me wrong she gets discouraged, every now and then and that’s a given because we are all only human, but Ty know that God has her back, she is such an inspiration and, we are truly proud of her.

Just recently, January, 2016 Ty was informed by her Dr’s that her cancer had worsened and was attacking her body destructively, and she had to fight back aggressively to rid herself of the attack. With that being said for the last 3 months Ty has undergone intense chemo treatments and bone marrow biopsies.  She has been suffering for so long, for Ty most days she is in unbearable pain, her skin is raw and hurts to be touched, her taste buds are non existing, she has migraines’ all day, rashes and infections that pop up on any given day, always worn out and weak, she has night sweats and every bone in her body aches all the time....and has been in and out of the hospital ever since, and will be returning again for another intense chemo treatment on next week.  Medical expenses have mounted up, unfortunately along with any cancer, comes unimaginable bills, with the expensive medications she needs and monthly bills it’s been a struggle for her to survive, not only mentally, but physically also.  By creating this page we are determined to help take the financial stress that comes along with this lengthy illness off her shoulders.  If you can contribute to reducing this burden, we and most importantly Tyesha will greatly appreciate this and it will be one less thing that Ty has to worry about as she fights this awful fight, she is fighting a fight that no one should have to fight against cancer.  The money that you donate will be used to help cover the medical bills, which include things such as, medication, transportation back and forth to the hospital for chemo treatments and blood work (Ty is at the hospital at least 3 times a week) and the commute is pretty long, past due medical bills and also medical supplies.  We will also be donating a good portion to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

We thank each and every one of you who have sent your love, your assistance and prayers to Ty; we definitely feel it and see it.  While she has overcome several hurdles in her battle against leukemia there is still a long road ahead of her and more battles to fight.  Please donate to support Ty’s fight against cancer, help lessen the financial stress...
