I’d like to introduce you to our family of four...Daniel, Rozi, Cody, and Nico. We are from Edwards, Colorado, and live a life of adventure. Living in Edwards is like living in a playground. As a family, we enjoy any activities that take us outside including hiking, longboarding, mountain biking and many more. Our days are full of love, smiles, and laughter.
After a very busy winter, we packed up the car and took a long awaited road trip to San Diego. We wanted to take our 6 months old son Nico, and two years old Alaskan Malamute Cody to the ocean. Cody was so excited to get out of the car after a long day of driving.
It was then that our excitement to be safe and sound in San Diego shifted to fear for a member of our family.
After about 10 minutes of being in the hous, Cody went upstairs. There was a deck with a metal awning that looks. Cody jumped up onto the metal awning, and because it had been raining that day, slipped and fell over 30 feet down onto the concrete sidewalk below. The screams from Cody were terrifying, and with the amount of blood on the sidewalk, we weren’t sure if he would make it through the night.
Since this happened, our family has been worried sick for Cody. Even though he is still with us, he is severely injured. Both of his front legs are destroyed to the point that it is hard to recognize them. We are not sure whether he will be able to walk again, and even if he does, it will be a tough road of rehabilitation.
We write you this because Cody is a beloved member of our family. His is the big brother to Nico, and without him, our family would not be what it is. Since this happened, the veterinary bills have been very expensive and we are struggling to figure out how we will get through this.
We are asking you for any support that you may be able to give. As a young family, it is very important to us to be members of the community who give back to our friends and family, but also to those who we may not know. We believe that it is community that ultimately helps us get through difficult times, and we are asking that if any members of this community are able to help us with the $10,000+ in veterinary bills, we would greatly appreciate it. In fact, it would mean the world to our family.
We feel so grateful for any support and promise that in return, we will pay it forward to another family who may need help in the future.
