My name is Hoda Rasoul, I'm St Lawrence Swim Team's Manager. Coach Barbara is our Head Coach.
On March 22nd, 2016 Coach Barbara fell on the pool deck during a swim practice and got a deep cut in her leg which unfortunately got infected with flesh eating bacteria and required two surgeries. She couldn’t return to work until April 18th. In the process of the leg's recovery it was revealed that she has rectal cancer. The surgery to remove this tumor is scheduled for May 19th, 2016. She will be in the hospital for three to four days and recovery after that will take about 6 weeks where she will not be able to work. Coach Barbara’s hired on an hourly basis, so during these 6 weeks she will be on unpaid leave.
