The Situation
The European refugee issue has gotten way out of hand.
The refugees are basically living in slums in every country along the Mediterranean in horrid living conditions.
The governments are sweeping these suffering people under the rug, and many families areleft to fend for themselves when they can't.
What I'm Doing
I am going (with or without financial aid) to the Mediterranean for the entire summer to work hard labor in the refugee camps. Helping men, women, and children build camps, feed families, gather supplies, and help in whatever capacity I can.
What the Money Will Do
Basically, it will cover my travelling expenses, tranportation while I am there, all supplies, housing, and some minor expenses while I am there. I will use your money wisely and not for tourist purposes.
Who I Am, Why I Want to Go, and Why Do I Need Aid
In 2017 I will graduate college as a Chemical Engineer from Tennessee. I have a really good GPA , intern experience, and a job on the way. Debt is on the way though too, and I know that I will pay it off in time.
Basically I want to go for two reasons: To be a light to the world, and to be able to give back in the future. I know that I will have a comfortable life as a Chemical Engineer, but I do not want to be comfortable. I want to hurt for the world, and give back in the future many times over what I receive. I am deathly afraid of American opulence, and I feel as the best way to have a heart for the world is to experience first-hand the pain in the World. I know seeing the refugees will be an experience that would shape the rest of my life.
I need aid because my current financial situation would barely be able to cover it. I will pay for whatever I dont get funded for, but at this point in my life it would be a financial burden to go. That wont keep me from going because I know I can handle the burden, but help would be so great for my short-term financial condition.
When Do I Need the Aid
I do not need it any particular time. Throughout the summer I will pay as I go. This is a little less than the estimated cost of the trip, but I think it would be a little unfair for me to not have any skin in the game. Donations will be taken as they come!
