Lauren's National History Day Trip

Donation protected
National History Day is a non-profit education organization in College Park, MD. It offers year-long academic programs that engage over half a million middle- and high-school students around the world annually in conducting original research on historical topics of interest. These research-based projects are entered into contests at the local and affiliate levels, where the top student projects have the opportunity to advance to the National Contest at the University of Maryland, June 12-16, 2016.

This year, her fourth year of involvement, Lauren chose to do her project on the Armenian genocide.  She spent countless hours researching this topic, conducting interviews, reading books and other publications and writing her script for this year’s theme, Exploration, Encounter and Exchange in History.  Her work paid off with wins at the regional and county level.  Last week, she competed against 18 of the brightest junio high school kids in the state.  Despite heavy competition, she took home the championship for the state of California for Junior Performance.  The following is only a clip:

Lauren's win at the state level makes her eligible to represent California at the national contest in College Park, Maryland.  Travel, room, food and incidental expenses are very expensive.  Even though this is a school sanctioned activity, no funding is available from the school district.  We are asking for any help through this GoFundMe campaign.
