Courtney Bell's Brain Tumor Fund

Donation protected
Courtney Bell is a vivacious, loving and caring young woman who just celebrated her 30th birthday last month. Over the past 12 months she’s been suffering from massive headaches, blurred and distorted vision along with hearing loss. A few weeks ago, she was diagnosed with Meningioma. She has a large mass-brain tumor about the size of a silver dollar in diameter on the left side of her brain.

Her Neurosurgeon has put her surgery onto the “fast track” (Thank God) because of the severity of her symptoms and the fact they are becoming unbearable for her on a daily basis. He’s afraid if they don’t do the surgery immediately, this could cause permanent damage to her hearing, vision or worse.

With that said, this has caused a lot of stress to not only her physical state but also to her emotional well-being and is taking a toll on her financially. Courtney is a very dedicated and hard worker putting in 50-60 hours a week at her current job.  Her insurance however  is not adequate coverage to endure the extensive surgery and recovery.

It’s sad to say her “out of pocket” expenses (with insurance) will exceed $10,000. She’s drained her savings & checking accounts to pay her upfront costs thus far. We’ve already received phone calls from both the Dr. and hospital needing their money before they  begin the surgery.

According to her diagnosis and Neurosurgeon she is scheduled for a 4-5 hour surgery this Wednesday, expected to be in ICU for 3-4 days and remain in the hospital for over a week, depending on how fast she bounces back from surgery. She’s then expected to be out of work for another 1-2 months which also adds additional stress. She has filed for temporary disability but it will not begin to cover her loss of wages, in addition to the cost of the surgery/hospital expenses she will incur.

Our hope is to help relieve some of her financial burden as well as the stress she’s under in addition to helping raise awareness for brain tumors.

Any amount of money donated over and above her medical expenses and loss of income will be donated to the National Brain Tumor Society on behalf of Courtney.  ALL donations help, even if just $5!

Please keep Courtney in your prayers and if possible, consider a donation. We all thank you for your love and support during this difficult time, and look forward to a quick and speedy recovery for Courtney!

A little information on Meningioma and tumors:
Meningiomas are often benign tumors arising from the coverings of the brain and spinal cord. They represent about one-third of all primary brain tumors and occur most frequently in middle-aged women.
Although meningiomas are referred to as brain tumors, they do not grow from brain tissue. They arise from the meninges, which are three thin layers of tissue covering the brain and spinal cord. These tumors are most often found near the top and the outer curve of the brain. Tumors may also form at the base of the skull.
