Dale Hardman died at home in Jersey City on May 2, 2016. He was 64 years old.
Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and raised in Warner Robins, Georgia, Dale lived multiple lives: activist, fisherman, teacher, bookseller, poet and writer, aficionado of music and the arts, good neighbor, community advocate, uncle and brother. His sincerity, compassion, generosity and fearlessness will be dearly missed, but we will always carry him in our hearts.
We are friends of Dale. We have set up this fund in honor of our great friend, to offer support to those he loved so emphatically. All funds collected will help cover the costs associated with the funeral arrangements according to Dale's wishes, with the remainder going to help his sister Gayle obtain his belongings and relinquish his apartment.
In addition, a memorial event and celebration of Dale's life will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Grace Church Van Vorst at 2nd & Erie Streets (enter through red doors on 2nd Street) in the city he loved, Jersey City. We invite all of Dale's friends to come and tell some stories, listen to music, and enjoy each others' company, as he would have wanted.
