To keep a roof over my head

Thanks to being unemployed for 2 plus years I got behind on my rent, 4 months worth. My landlord, who has been really cool about it, has told me that because i couldn't pay him the rent he couldn't pay property taxes on the house. The county wants to take the house away from him, I'd rather that not happen so i need help to get the back rent that I owe. I have a job now but it pays me just enough to keep up with my current bills and hasn't let me pay down the amount I owe. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
