Infertility: Where's my Stork?

Infertility: Where's my Stork?

My name is Beth and my husband’s name is Paul. We have been married since 2011 and are over the moon in love with one another. We have wanted to bring our own bundle of joy into the world to share that love with but have hit many roadblocks on our journey in terms of fertility issues.

For me there is nothing else I'd rather be in the world than a Mom. I want to hold my baby and watch them grow and teach them everything I know. We have been trying to have a baby for over five years with all the highs and lows (a lot of lows) that come when dealing with PCOS. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome makes it so I don't ovulate regularly unless stimulated by medication along with many other symptoms.

From the time I was little it came natural to play the part of the Mom...but what happens when you grow up and you aren't able to do it for real?

PCOS has been a devastating barrier in trying to achieve my dream of motherhood.

What does infertility mean? For Paul and I it means spending thousands and thousands of dollars, doing fertility investigations, 2 IUI procedures, 1 ectopic pregnancy resulting in the loss of my left fallopian tube, 1 unsuccessfully funded IVF, injecting myself with medications, driving hours back and forth to the fertility clinic before work every day for weeks on end along with constant waves of fear, hope and lots of tears mixed in.

We know that it is possible as I've had one pregnancy but it resulted in an ectopic that required surgery and a few weeks of recovery.

We want to try again to have a baby of our own but need a little help to keep the dream alive as the medication and cost of the procedures (IUI/IVF) are so high. The money raised would help with these costs.

We are going to be switching fertility clinics and starting this journey again in the fall. I am a very private person and it makes me feel incredibly vulnerable to tell our story and ask for help but by this time next year I want to celebrate Mother's Day with you all.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and learn more about our journey. If you have any questions for Paul and I about our journey please ask.

Sometimes it takes a village...to make a baby.
