On May 2nd, 2016 our families lost an incredibly special person. Lewis Fulk was a beloved coach, brother, uncle, son, father and grandfather. He was largely active in his home life and community, leaving a well-respected impression on all of our lives.
Born in San Diego, California on Feb. 3, 1969, he travelled with his family to New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and finally landed in Florida at the age of 9 where he grew up with his three brothers; Rich, Matt, and Karl. He had a vibrant personality and blazed his own trail meeting many lifelong friends along the way. In 1988 his sister, Kathryn was born bringing the family up to 7. In 1991 he formed a family of his own that included his first wonderful daughter Jessie and in 1997 he was blessed with the gift of his second daughter Lexi. His strong conviction for family made him a dedicated father putting his daughters first for the rest of his life. His granddaughter by Jessie, Hailey, was his joy.
In 2009 after Lexi took a liking to softball, he began coaching girls softball and took the sport very seriously. His love for sports and teaching sports came naturally and he soon became like a father to all of his players. His softball family will cherish the memories they acquired during his coaching years and his legacy will continue with them as he is watching over all of us and cheering us on.
He followed Lexi in the Dunedin Middle and High School bands as an active member of the booster club, leading the football concession for two years.
He was a roofer for over 20 years starting his own company, A+ Quality Roofing of Pinellas, in 2005. He had a reputation for honesty and quality work. He had the respect of his customers, crew, and suppliers.
Our family and friends will remember all the memories we share with him as well. All the concerts we jammed out to together, all the screaming and cheering we did at the Lightning and Bucs games. All of his friends and family can concur; he sure valued his music and teams.
We can also agree that he was a remarkable individual and father. Heaven gained an important angel and we must all believe that he is with all of us, all the time. He wouldn’t want us to be sad for his departure though; he’d want us to celebrate his life and rock out to some of his favorite music. He’d want us to come together and celebrate the memories we all share.
A celebration of life for Lewis will be on May 20th at John Chestnut Park at Shelter #2 next to the softball field. If you’d like to participate in a game in his honor please bring your softball gear. The festivities will begin at 4:00 pm to sunset. Wings, ribs, salad, water and Pepsi will be provided. All we ask is that you please contribute a side or dessert to the party and drinks if you’d prefer something else.
In addition there will be a funeral Mass at the Light of Christ church in Clearwater on May 21st at 1:00pm.
