Literacy Project 2.0

Donation protected

The Malawi Children Literacy Initiative aims to create awareness of the plight of children in Malawi particularly at the Chifundo Chathu Orphanage.  I have personally collected children's books and other education materials for children in Malawi as well as self funded my trip to successfully deliver the books and supplies.

I NEED YOUR HELP:

It is my hope that I may be able to reduce the cost of my mission through the generosity of individuals and organizations. Unfortunately, I am operating on a shoestring budget, and I still need help with funds for basic expenses such as purchasing more books to complete the library and pay for the shipment of the items. I hope you will be able to help me by donating funds to support a great cause.  I know times are very hard right now; but I would formally recognize any contribution you are able to provide in the mini documentary that will be produced upon my return.

All funds raised will go directly to this project in one of the following ways: 1) to cover basic expenses for more supplies for the children 2) support the final cost of my trip and 3) to pay for the shipment of books and other educational materials from the U.S. to Malawi

A NOTE ABOUT PAST SUCCESS:

Please understand that your support will not be in vain.  In 2008, I completed the same project in Ghana.  Known as the Ghana Street Children Literacy Initiative, myself and four fellow students from North Carolina A&T State University collected over 1200 children's books for street children in Ghana. The trip was not only beneficial to the children in Ghana, but as students we had an opportunity to travel to Ghana and participate in a transformational experience. Since returning from Ghana, I have made several presentations to many of my colleagues about my life changing experience, gained appreciation of the magnitude of destitution thousands of children are exposed to, and  heightened my commitment to affect some positive changes to the circumstances of these children. This experience enriched my life greatly and encouraged me to be the change that I wish to see in the world.

At the end of the day I am just a 23 year old young woman that aspires to inspire and wants to fulfill my passion and destiny, which is to save the World, one village at a time. :)
