Debbie Vogeler was a licensed vocational nurse who worked at Fresno Unified School District for the past 5 years. She was a person with a passion for life who always cared about others. She loved her job and all the people she worked with; whether it be students, student’s family members or school staff. She was a very generous, kind and caring person who was everyone’s friend.
Debbie sustained a massive heart attack that resulted in severe damage to her heart. She underwent 2 cardiac surgeries to attempt to repair the damage to her heart; however, the damage was too severe. As a result of the heart attack and diminished blood flow to her vital organs, medical testing determined that she had suffered extensive organ damage making her ineligible for a heart transplant. Debbie’s husband and 2 sons made the difficult decision to take Debbie off life support with the guidance and support of the staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She passed away peacefully May 2, 2016.
Our hearts ache for the loss of our special friend who had such a giving spirit, kind heart and passion for serving others. While we grieve, the pain experienced by her husband and sons is unimaginable. Debbie was originally from Hawaii and the family will be traveling there to celebrate her life with extended family.
The financial impact of Debbie’s recent hospitalizations, surgeries, medical flight to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the upcoming arrangements for celebrating her life, both in Hawaii and in Fresno, will be significant.
