To those of you who don’t know me - my name is Lisa Roussos. On the 22nd May 2017, my life changed forever. I with my 2 daughters went to watch Ariana Grande at the MEN arena. My 8 year old daughter Saffie-Rose never made it home that night.  I suffered horrific injuries as a result of the bombing, and whilst the physical and emotional pain lives on, I am determined to make a difference to the lives of others who find themselves caught up in similar horrors to those faced by my family and the other families that awful day.  I have signed up to try and walk the great Manchester run on the 19th of May 2019 alongside friends/family/ medical staff and surgeon's that assisted me and many of the others who were injured post the bombing.  My injuries resulted in me having to learn to walk again. I have experienced first hand the amazing work that the NHS provides and the ongoing physiotherapy support from MIHP. Unfortunately, once you’ve been discharged from the NHS the ongoing support is minimal,  whether it's mental health,  financial or rehabilitation.  It has only been the generosity of the public that has helped us get through the most difficult of days.  The last 15months or so we have been working on setting up a charity called 22MCR.  It will be one of the first charities to help victims of terrorism as there is tragically little support in the U.K or from the  government when atrocities like this take place. Imagine where we would have been had the public not been so magnificent in their support.   Without the generosity of the public and raising nearly £22 Million pounds for Manchester, today we would be in a very different position. The board of the charity consists of a number of high profile individuals, who each have the experience to make this charity hugely successful. It will do the crucial work of supporting ordinary people crudely affected by acts of terrorism in the past and in the future.
