Help Nala get ACL surgery

Donation protected
We adopted Nala from a rescue in on July 2nd. Both of our children are very timid (and almost frightened) around animals, but our daughter kept begging to rescue or foster a dog. With Nala, all of that changed. She is perfect! I’ve never seen our daughter happier or our son more comfortable around an animal. She came in like she’d known us her entire life and the kids have not only warmed up to her but are absolutely in love (well, so are we!) In all the years Dana has volunteered with rescues and owned bully breeds Nala is by far the best behaved, sweetest, most loving dog she has ever met. (She is a 2 year old English Bulldog mix.) From the first moment the kids met her we knew Nala was the one, she was so loving and so gentle. But from the first day she was here with us we could tell something was wrong. She began limping only hours after being left with us for our foster period, and as the day went on she began only walking on 3 legs (as if she’d done so many times.) We knew right away she needed to see a vet. We were told they had never noticed her condition at the rescue, and something just didn’t sit right with us. We adopted her the very next day so she wouldn’t have to be in any pain waiting on the rescue to make a vet appointment for her (since we could get her to our vet that same day) and she would never have to sleep on a hard floor or in a kennel ever again. Our vet found ACL damage in both knees to the extent we were referred to a specialist for surgery. A surgery that will cost $6,000 per leg. We know that we could have just not adopted her, but after just 24 hours (and now over a month) with this sweet girl we knew there was no way we could let her go back to a rescue to potentially suffer or never be adopted because of her condition. We feared they would put her down rather than get her the treatment she desperately needed. Luckily she found us. We knew we were taking on a lot but Nala has completed our family, and although we have started saving for her surgery we know she will need, (we have an upcoming consultation on the 14th and want to get her in as soon as possible so that she is not in any more pain) with both legs needing to be mended, appointments, medications, and other costs it is far more than we imagined, or have been able to come up with in the short time we’ve had her. The money raised here will go towards all of those things, and anything leftover (if by some chance we have leftover funds) will be donated to benefit pets elsewhere in need. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this far and please, if you are unable to donate, every share gets us closer to our goal of getting our girl on the mend!
