We are rattling the racist hornets nest!

Hello everyone! Westminster Presbyterian Church in Auburn, NY, was founded when a pastor was asked to leave his church because he spoke too highly in favor of abolition and where Harriet Tubman was married. They put this sign up 2 weeks ago. It was stolen by a man and recovered within 90 minutes. See that beautiful story here:

Now, it has been destroyed in an act of hate. This is what racism really looks like in our society, because most racists cowardly act under some form of anonymity. Racism is not normally overtly displayed like the Klan, it is subtle. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, it is “Polite.” Polite racism is wrapped in humor, stereotypes and cultural appropriation, not crosses burning in yards. As I look at the damage to this sign, however, I can’t help but notice the irony that in order for the last line to read, “Lives Matter” the word “Black” had to be cut out, stolen and likely discarded as a piece of trash. There is still much work to be done. Enough money has been raised to help Westminster replace their sign and keep replacing it after every act of vandalism toward it. They will be investing in a video surveillance system. They have asked that we plaster the city with signs. Your donation is going directly toward providing a 24”x18” yard sign to anyone who would like to display one in their Auburn, NY yard. Each sign costs $10 We will also be purchasing bumper stickers.
