SUPPORT LOCAL COOL STUFF

Donation protected
HELLO! Thank you for visiting our GoFundMe page. My dear sister, Susan Michutka, discovered her passion to paint sometime in 2006 while living in Austin Texas  and still considers herself to be an accidental artist. She has lived in many places around the country while creating vividly colorful paintings, often on objects of practical purpose. Susan's style has been compared to that of Grandma Moses who also had no training; her paintings are commonly called "primitive cool" and lovingly dubbed COOL STUFF. She fancies flowers and foliage so the local Texas landscapes feed her passion. Susan's Art now resides in many private homes and businesses around the world.

In 2011, Susan lost her job in law so decided to pursue her newly found passion for painting. She took a part-time job, instead, with a Master Chocolatier to provide her with, not only an income while she painted but, an environment conducive for artistic creation. However, her "chocolate job" burned down in the 2011 Bastrop Wildfire and the Master Chocolatier has not rebuilt his beautiful shop that once stood on the highest hill in town.
Unemployed but undetered, and already a member of the Bastrop 1832 Farmers' Market, Susan continued to show her paintings on Saturday mornings at the Market. She accepted minimal donations in exchange for her paintings and is often asked to do custom work.
She participated in the Green Expo in 2012 and her Art made the news (Your News Now in central Texas "“ ynn.com) because she paints primarily on recycled furniture and wood scraps. She was also asked to participate in Bastrop's Home Products Show in 2012 because her colorfully-painted furniture is always a crowd-pleaser.
Susan was also accepted by a peer-reviewed artist's jury to become a "Maker" with Custommade.com because they saw the unique work she had already produced. They said "we would love to have your talents on our site (we loved the colors:) and are thrilled to have you as an Artist on Custommade.com".
THE BIGGEST NEWS "“ and my reason for creating this GoFundMe Page - is that Susan was recently invited to present the FIRST SOLO EXHIBITION of her Artwork, which is scheduled for the month of June, 2013, at the University Baptist Church Gallery on Guadalupe Street in Austin, Texas, right across from the University of Texas downtown campus!
I am so excited for my sister that it prompted me to put together this GoFundMe page on her behalf.

To present a Solo Exhibition does cost the artist money. We have calculated that to continue to provide my sister with the space in which to paint, the cost of the painting materials, the time to actually create the paintings, and to help the Gallery promote the event, will cost around $4,000. This amount of money is not something a struggling artist has available and Susan needs our support, both expressively and financially.
EVERY little bit will add up. If you donate only a few dollars, I know my sister would be EXTREMELY grateful. She has set up a reward selection if you would like to choose a thank you gift (painting) in exchange for your donation.

Susan's many friends and patrons have expressed their passion about her work and I know we all encourage her to continue to follow her bliss. Your donation will ensure that she can remain in her little one-room home-studio and continue to create a body of work for the Exhibition in June. We expect her paintings will do well at the Solo Exhibition (she will be showing for 4-6 weeks) and the proceeds from the event will allow her to continue her work as an artist.
I am so excited to share in what, I believe, is only the beginning of a long and successful new career for Susan as an artist.
I invite you to see the collection of Susan's work by clicking
HERE Please SHARE this GoFundMe page and ask your friends to SHARE it too and their friends to SHARE it too so we can reach far out into the world of kind hearts and make this first Art Exhibition happen for Susan.
Thank you in advance to all the lovely people who have donated. You are helping to make Susan's dream come true! She invites you to become her Facebook Friend so that she can keep in touch with you and invite you to the Opening Reception of her Solo Exhibition in June. We also encourage you to visit her "Cool Stuff" photo album (see link above) from time to time so see what she paints.
I send this request out lovingly into the universe and thank ALL OF YOU for taking the time to read our "GoFun
