Help 7 Mile Fashion Rebuild

Donation protected
May 25th, George Floyd was unjustly killed by a Minneapolis police officer. Pain and rage welled up in the community at the continued injustices BIPOC suffer daily by unfair systems. During the uprising in Minneapolis, our immigrant-owned stores were extensively damaged. On May 28th, our south Minneapolis location was completely burned down. On the same day, our north Minneapolis location was looted over two days, a fire was set, and the sprinklers went off, ruining anything that was left. We started our store in 1989, and we were able to grow our business little by little, expanding our original location on Broadway, and taking on other locations, the Lake Street location and Brooklyn Park. We employ about 30 employees, who are mostly immigrants and BIPOC. Our last fundraiser was for them and their lost wages. Thank you so much for donating if you did. Our hearts swelled with the love that came from everywhere. We now know that insurance will cover employee’s wages if they want to stay on, and we are sending the fundraiser proceeds to the employees to help with this disruption in their lives Our next goal is to rebuild and open up again, bringing back our employee's jobs and our livlihood. The work to do: The Lake Street mall will be torn down and rebuilt from the ground, up. The Broadway store’s building is luckily intact, but must be gutted to the studs and rebuilt. These projects are 4 months to a year out due to the amount of damage they sustained. Once the spaces are ready, we will need to purchase everything that we accumulated over decades that comes with running a retail business, like fixtures, security tags, cameras, an office, and the variety, quality, and quantity of merchandise we are known for. With your help we can rebuild. So many times this past month, we have been grateful for your condolences and words of encouragement. We will continue to serve communities, invest in them, and hire our neighbors. We would be so incredibly grateful for any help you can offer us. While we are also grateful to have insurance, we were woefully under-insured and need your help to get back on our feet to reopen. The goal of this fundraiser is to help close the large gap between our losses and the amount insurance will cover. Thank you
