The Kokoda Track is a place held in reverence by all Australians, the Track personifies the Australian and Human Spirit. During World War 2 Australian soldiers formed unbreakable bonds not only with each-other but with their local guides, warmly nick-named the "fuzzy-wuzzys", and made great personal sacrifice in defence of their country. In 2013 the Telethon Adventurers hope to embody this spirit of mate-ship and perseverance by trekking along the infamous Kokoda Track to raise money for Childhood Cancer Research. We also plan to pay homage to all those Australians and Papuans who made the trek during World War 2 by attending the ANZAC service on Brigade hill.
For me, the trek is a chance to give back and help the people who so dearly deserve it. To hear the story of a family that lost a child to cancer is a heartbreaking thing, to be able to do something about it is a gift. The Kokoda track itself is also something that I have always wanted to conquer. To be able to challenge myself physically, mentally and emotionally and to be able to do it in support of such an amazing cause is an incredible opportunity.
I started this page to help raise funds to support my personal participation in the trek. We have already raised thousands of dollars for the Telethon Adventurers but unfortunately the gear for the trek, plane tickets and accommodation are not cheap. To subsidise my own personal financial sacrifice to take part in the trek I ask you - my friend, my family member, my fellow human being - to donate to this fund and help me to help the children and families dealing with childhood cancer.
All money raised will go towards the Trek and Telethon adventurers.
So please donate, any amount will do. Curing something as devastating as childhood cancer requires both the Human spirit and resources.. The kids and families coping with Childhood Cancer are already providing the Human spirit.. maybe you could provide the resources..
