Praying for Jerry

On Sunday night, after not feeling well for a few days, Jerry was admitted to Holmes Regional Hospital in Melbourne and was moved to the ICU on Monday. He tested negative for Covid and was diagnosed with severe pneumonia. After receiving 100% oxygen, several antibiotics, high doses of steroids and lots of other medications to keep him comfortable, Jerry continued to struggle to breathe. Today, Wednesday, Jerry told the doctor he was too tired to breathe on his own so he is now intubated and very heavily sedated. He has been accepted as a patient at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville and will be transferred there by helicopter tomorrow. Doctors have mentioned that he may need ECMO and maybe even a lung transplant. Galatians 6:2 reminds believers to “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." As true friends, many of you have reached out and asked how you can help. The most important thing that Jerry needs right now is prayer for complete and total healing. We ask that you join with us in believing for a miracle in his life. Pray for Kathy as she walks through this frightening time, that God’s peace and wisdom would surround her, and that she would feel His presence at all times. Pray also for Rebecca and Matthew, for comfort and strength. Kathy, Becca, and Matthew will be staying in a hotel in Jacksonville (about four hours from Melbourne) for the immediate future, and may need more long-term housing options as time goes on. This will certainly be difficult financially for them as they will need to pay for housing, food, travel, and other expenses, as well as missing time from work to be with Jerry.
