21K FOR SEÁN

Donation protected
On Sunday the 28th of June a group of us will be taking part in a 21km hike in Glendalough in memory of my brother Seán on his 21st birthday. This hike is in honour of a wonderful and dearly missed son, brother and friend. Seán was an energetic and athletic man who had a deep passion for sport and the outdoors and thus I feel that this hike is the perfect way to remember him. All funds raised throughout the course of this campaign will be split evenly between two charities, Tribe, a community of young people raising awareness and essential funds for Jigsaw Ireland, and HUGG. Jigsaw offer direct therapeutic support services to young people who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and this money will enable Jigsaw to continue providing these essential services. HUGG provide support group services to people who have been bereaved by suicide. Both of these charities really rely on donations from the public so I ask you all to please share the gofundme link and donate what you can so that together we can raise much needed funding and awareness for these two amazing charities. I will be transferring all monies raised from the campaign into my personal bank account so that I can directly donate to HUGG and Tribe through each of their websites.

This hike is an opportunity to reconnect with friends, family and loved ones as well as opening up and sharing any difficulties or challenges that you may be currently facing in your life. However, it is important to be mindful and respectful of both our healthcare workers and those who have lost loved ones to Covid-19 and as such I strongly urge all participants to abide by social distancing rules and recommendations at all times during the hike. If you plan on taking part in the hike you can sign up through the Tribe website. For those of you who cannot make the journey to Glendalough but wish to take part in remembering Seán, I encourage you to get out and get active wherever you may be.

How we feel and think is central to the way that we live our lives and just like physical health, our mental health has both its ups and downs. Before finishing the hike, I encourage everyone to also talk about the good things in life, the things that you are grateful for, and the things that you love most. Life is a beautiful thing and even through the bad times we must try hard to remember that we are loved and there is much to be grateful for.
