Summer Showdown Debate Tournament for Innocence

Hi there! I’m Jasmine Morales, a high school junior, NSDA Congressional Debater and the director of the Summer Showdown Congressional Debate Tournament! Summer Showdown Congressional Debate is an online debate tournament being held on August 15th and 16th! In order to give back to our societies, ALL proceeds from the Summer Showdown tournament will go directly to the Innocence Project, a group that works to exonerate the wrongly convicted through DNA testing and reforms the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice.
The Innocence Project's mission is to free the staggering number of innocent people who remain incarcerated, and to bring reform to the system responsible for their unjust imprisonment.
Especially during times like these, in the midst of the BLM movement, it is important we give back to organizations like the Innocence Project in order to promote fairness and equality in our societies. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, and it's important to not let our voices go unheard.
As a group, as individuals, as a family we stand up to speak up, protest, and fight against the systemic racism in this country. We fight for the fundamental human right to live in a "country of the free" without fear of prosecution. To not be hated, discriminated against, assassinated, imprisoned, marginalized or profiled because of one's skin color or ethnic background.
We're standing with you. We're standing by you. We are here to stand for you. Silence is compliance.
Congressional debate provides a distinctive forum to openly express what matters most to us and communicating our narratives has never been more important in these unparalleled moments, we hope that you’ll join us in either participating and donating (or both!) to this great cause.
