<div>This September, I’m running 21.1km at the Sandringham Half Marathon. Every mile I run and every breath I struggle for is nothing compared to the daily fight for survival faced by the forgotten souls at The Great Catsby in Romania.

<div>Four years ago, my wife and I were looking for a pet; what we found was a lifelong commitment to those who cannot fend for themselves.
</div>
<div>Today, our five rescues are the lucky ones, but back in Romania, the reality is a nightmare.
</div>

<div>Madalina, Donna, and their team live in a cycle of shattering heartbreak. They are the ones who pick up the broken bodies of cats who have been beaten, starved, or left to die in the freezing cold. They are the ones who look into terrified eyes and whisper, "You’re safe now," even when their bank accounts are empty and their shelters are overflowing.

<div>They never say no, even when the vet bills are astronomical and their spirits are crushed by the sheer scale of the cruelty they witness.

<div>They give their blood, their tears, and their entire lives so that these creatures can know, just once, what it feels like to be loved.

<div>I am running for the ones who can't run. I’m running for the ones who didn’t make it, and for those sitting in a cage right now waiting for a miracle. You are that miracle.

<div>Questo settembre correrò i 21,1 km della Mezza Maratona di Sandringham. Ogni chilometro percorso e ogni respiro affannoso non sono nulla in confronto alla lotta quotidiana per la sopravvivenza delle anime dimenticate di "The Great Catsby" in Romania.

<div>Quattro anni fa, mia moglie e io eravamo alla ricerca di un animale domestico; quello che abbiamo trovato è stato un dono che ci ha cambiato la vita.

<div>Madalina, Donna e il loro team vivono in un ciclo continuo di sofferenza. Sono loro a raccogliere i corpi martoriati di gatti picchiati, affamati o lasciati morire nel gelo. Sono loro a guardare quegli occhi terrorizzati e a sussurrare "ora sei al sicuro", anche quando il conto in banca è vuoto e i rifugi sono strapieni.

<div>Non dicono mai di no, nemmeno quando le fatture del veterinario sono astronomiche e i loro cuori sono distrutti dalla crudeltà a cui assistono ogni giorno.

<div>Danno il sangue, le lacrime e la loro intera vita affinché queste creature possano scoprire, almeno una volta, cosa significa essere amati.
</div>

</div>
<div>Corro per chi non può correre. Corro per chi non ce l’ha fatta e per chi, in questo momento, aspetta un miracolo dietro le sbarre di una gabbia. Quel miracolo sei tu.
