So, who are we? An innovative, forward-thinking, disruptive start-up football team based in Sunnyhill, Derbyshire. We’re not your ordinary type of team, we’re from different backgrounds and upbringings. However, one thing we have in common, is the passion and hunger for the most famous sport in the world. Football. Not that American rubbish, proper football. Look, we’re not saying we’re Premier League material. But, I’m sure a lot of us could be if we were paid £100,000 a week. We’re changing the perception of amateur football, from big beer bellied Sunday football kick-about to creative and forward-thinking football. Both on and off the pitch. We’re not here just to kick a football and win matches, the team are trying to create a legacy and a community within Sunnyhill. We want the community behind us, we want the community to back us. We’re not saying you have to cheer us on every game, especially in the wind and rain on a frosty October morning. But, we want your support. We know that Sunnyhill has a community spirit that champions most, but what good is it if we’re not coming together for the love of football? We’re not thinking 3 months down the line, we’re thinking in 10 years times we want people to say “Get involved with Sunnyhill FC, they’re great, they’ve built a foundation within the community that people enjoy and are bought into”. Every community has a sticking point that they’re proud of, let’s muck in the old fashioned way and show the rest of the county what community means. Let’s lead by example, let’s do this together and let’s be an example to the people around us that together we’re better, stronger and more resilient. We all love an underdog, especially the ones that are hungry like us. What have you got to lose? The players aren’t the only ones that will be a part of this success story.
