I have THE best big sister and friend in the universe. Yes, you heard me right, in the universe. If you've ever met Tammie, you know exactly what I'm talking about. She's a surprise-planning connoisseur--I'm talking big surprises, like bounce-houses-that-take-up-the-entire-backyard big. Clearly a testament to her selflessness. She's also a dancing machine. She makes a mean enchilada dish and mouth-watering mini chicken pot pies. AND she'll make you smile nonstop and laugh so hard you don't have to do another crunch ever a again. It's true.
A couple of weeks ago, Tammie was diagnosed with lymphoma, a type of blood cancer, that has centralized in her bone marrow. The seemingly endless doctor's appointments, tests, hospital visits, the diagnosis, and her treatment plan was at first emotionally and physically overwhelming for her, for Kevin, and for our entire family.
And then we started to feel a different kind of overwhelmed--the really, really good kind. All of your love, positivity, and prayers just seemed to pour in, and the best part is that I could see how much Tammie was uplifted by ALL of your love. It was just what she needed. And all that love hasn't stopped! So thank you, thank you, thank you! And keep it coming!
Tammie and Kevin had been planning their September 2013 wedding when this news came. They decided to get married much sooner, as they start yet another adventure by each other's side. Even with physical restrictions that Tammie faced on her wedding day, the love that you all sent to her continued to show as she shined with pure joy and happiness and as she frequently forgot that the doctor told her to keep the dancing to a minimum!
Tammie has been staying her strong, positive, funny, cheesy, laugh-y, dance-y self through this whole thing--even picking me up and keeping me positive when I'm feeling down. Yeah, my sister is kind of amazing that way. As she continues on the road to recovery and healing, she is in the process of undergoing a six-month long chemotherapy treatment plan. She may be small, but she is definitely mighty! Cancer ain't got nothing on her!!
I have set up this fund in Tammie's honor. Her medical expenses have quickly built up, and any small contribution that you can make to help ease this financial burden on Tammie and Kevin would be so appreciated. Please know that no gift is too small in helping us help Tammie fight the fight.
Again, thank you to each and every one of you for all of your prayers, support, positive thoughts, and love for Tammie because, really, these are the BEST gifts of all.
You got this, Tammie. We love you!
