The 20 Hour Killer Workout (New Year Challenge)

For the last few years celebrating the transition into the new year has always gone hand in hand with alcohol... 2020  has been a different yet special year. On the 25 of December Nickel Blankevoort and myself (Nick Hansen) decided to end it in a different yet special way!! 

We will be doing an insane physical challenge that will push us beyond our boundaries mentally and physically.  100% of the money we raise will be donated to Luck Me Foundation (website). All donations both small and big are very welcome, it is for a good cause and might just give us that extra bit of motivation we need to overcome this insane task.

The 20 Hour Killer Workout:
On the 31 of December Nickel and I (Nick) will be attempting to each do 1010 pull ups, 202.0 km biking and 2020 meter swim within 20 hours. 03:30 AM we will both start with the pull ups, we will be doing 5 pull ups every minute for approximately 3.5 hours.  After that we will start the treacherous 202.0 KM bike from Blaricum (North-Holland) to the border of Germany and back. Then finally we will be topping it all off with a nice chill 2020 meter outdoor swim in the Spiegel Plas. Hopefully our mind and our body will make it to the finish line and complete the challenge before the clock hits 00:00 and the new year 2021 begins!!!

The Team
Nickel (24)and I(Nick 21) both extremely passionate for sports and pushing limits (and each other) . We have experienced extreme hikes, national rugby games and years of working out but nothing compares to what we are about to do on the 31ste. Six day prior to the challenge we both agreed on it, hence have little to no preparation. But on the other hand we have been preparing our entire life. SO BRING IT THE FUCK ON!!!!! 


The Charity:
The Lucky Me Foundation is a Kenya based charity my mom(Sharon) and her fiancee (Erik Jan) started that helps underprivileged kids. These children come from a hopeless background with broken families, no food and no education. For the last 1 1/2 years the Luck Me Foundation has provided 14 children with clothes, food, schooling, a bed and a new hope for a bright future.

"Corona April 2020:

Just like in the Netherlands the Corona virus has broken out in Kenya  as well. The consequences of this are huge for the Lucky Me children. During the vacations in April all schools in Kenya  were closed for an indefinite period of time.

In large cities like Nairobi and Mombasa many infections have been detected. This also seems logical because people live on top of each other, without proper hygiene. Fortunately, there are fewer infections in the inlands of Kenya. There is a lot of open air and people have more space there.

How will your contribution help?

Due to the circumstances the children are in a hostile environment. They are with their families which is often an unsafe situation for the children. Due to lack of food, people are hungry. The children are often literally "the least child" and stand at the back of the food queue. With a motorcycle the Lucky Me people went looking for the children. Without exception they were all very hungry. Three children were chased away by their families and found each other. One of them is Meretei, who earns money by working and buys food for the other two children and for himself.

"We have bought a supply of beans, corn and oil and we keep these in the Loita Hills Base Camp. The children can come and get food there. Some of them walk more than 25 kilometers to the Loita Hills Base Camp for food. This is all we can do now." 


The Lucky Me Team has decided that they need to home these kids in the periods that they aren't going to school.

All the money will directly go to the homing and schooling the kids.
