Help Me Go Back Home To See My Family

Hi everyone, my name is First Khunchan and I am an international student from Thailand. I moved to the US to come to college and continue my education. Every year during summer, I would travel back to Thailand to see my family. I did not go back during Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Spring break as the trips back home were long and expensive. The plan for this year was no different. I had planned to go back home to see my family during summer after school has ended. However, things did not go according to plan. Due to the covid-19 pandemic, Thailand has placed a travel ban starting back in April and have continued to push the travel ban out. At first, I had purchased tickets to go back home for April 20th, May 4th, May 15th, and recently June 3rd. Again, Thailand kept pushing their travel ban out, cancelling all the flights I have planned. The current travel ban is until June 30th, but there is no certainty whether they will push it back again or not. Currently, I am staying in the living room of my friends’ apartment. Luckily, Thailand’s travel ban did not include repatriation flights issued by the government. This meant that there are special flights issued by the government that would take a certain amount of Thai people back to Thailand. These flights were rarely offered and took only a limited amount of people back. I was lucky enough to be on the list but due to the conditions of these special flights, the price of these flights are almost tripled. As an international student, the only job I could have was ones on campus and was allowed to work limited hours, and since our university is now closed, I had not been receiving any income. My mom’s shop is also temporarily closed due to the virus outbreak back in Thailand as well. As a result, we are not able to afford the repatriation flight for me to go back home and must then wait until the travel ban is lifted which there is no certainty when that will happen. All the funds raised will be used to help aid the expenses of the ticket for the repatriation flight so that I can finally return home to see my family.
