Winter Essentials for Our Unsheltered Communities

Donation protected
The last two Christmases, we as a family had given out brown bags full of shelled peanuts, hard Christmas candies, apples and oranges to our unsheltered people on the streets and to our elders in our communities. We would like to continue giving this Christmas and hopefully make this a community tradition!

It brings so much joy giving these Christmas brown bags full of goodies - hearing and sharing stories of how these were given to us every christmas while growing up on the reservation. Back then, these bags were filled with hard candies, fruit, peanuts along with winter hats and gloves. They were great memories for many of us Indigenous People.

In order for us to keep this tradition going, we will need community mutual aid in purchasing shelled peanuts, hard Christmas candies, sandwich bags, snack bags and giant lunch bags. We will be handing out these Christmas brown bags with sleeping bags, hats, gloves and hand warmers to our unsheltered people living in the cold on the streets. We often check up on our unsheltered communities and offer water coolers, water, personal hygiene products and snacks. But these Christmas bags bring more smiles, stories and communities together.

We would greatly appreciate all of the love, support and any amount donated! If you would like to order the fruit, candies and peanuts from a store near us for pick up, this will work too! Just send me a message for information on how to do so!

Tʼáá íiyisíí ahéheeʼ, nitsaago! Thank you very much!
