The Petlowany's Are Crossfit Games Bound!
Hey All! For a third consecutive year, I’ve qualified for the CrossFit Games in the 40-44 Masters Age Group Division and will be making the trip to Madison, Wisconsin.
Last year the support from the Crossfit community was such a success, and as you can imagine travel expenses have not gotten any cheaper. That’s why my family and I would greatly appreciate your support to get us back to the Games this year!
In 2022, the Masters qualifying process changed. There was a third level of qualifying, with only the Top 10 athletes from the Semifinals earning a spot to the Crossfit Games. I finished 50th Worldwide in the Age Group Open, 5th Worldwide in the Age Group Quarterfinals and 5th in the Age Group Semifinals.
I will turn 43 in August and will be competing in the Masters 40-44 division. The Games start August 4th and will be hosted again at the Alliant Energy Center. Donations will help to support Games registration, airfare, hotel, car rental, gas and food. I will be traveling with my wife Monica and two kids, Mason and Alexa so the cost of travel and accommodations will be significant.
When it comes to the Age Group Divisions, there is always new competition introduced each year. With the new qualifying process and being another year older, it definitely presented a challenge to see how strong I could compete and earn my way through the Open, Quarters and Semifinals. And the Semifinals really taught me that HWPO! I started the weekend sitting in 19th place after 2 workouts. And I knew athletes must be pretty close to perfect to earn a Top 10 spot. So with the support of my family, team and community, I fought and pushed myself harder than I ever pushed in an age group qualifier. And I ended the weekend finishing in 5th place overall. Needless to say, it was a long but exciting weekend of competition, and I couldn’t be more excited to return to Madison this year.
With this trip to the Games, I'm hoping to pass along inspiration to other Masters Athletes that want to be involved or compete in Crossfit but have regular life and family to balance. It is possible! Stay focused, remain disciplined and be patient. Nothing worth sacrificing for happens overnight. Thank you for your donations. This opportunity wouldn’t be possible without continued support from the community.
