Celebrating Black History Month!

It's time to celebrate our 2020 Community Soul food Dinner on Friday, February 28th, 2020.

This year’s Soulfood Dinner will honor Iowa City Community School Board Director-Charles (Charlie) Eastham for his commitment to Education and Racial and Social Justice.

This event will be take place at the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center located at 220 S. Gilbert Street, Iowa City, Iowa  52240.
Time: 6:00p.m.-9:00p.m.

Soul food potluck:
A time to celebrate Southern cooking and a way for our community to celebrate and experience Black History!

This year we will be celebrating and breaking bread with Iowa City's Mayor Bruce Teague, Mayor Pro Tem Mazahir Salih, North Liberty Councilwoman RaQuishia Harrington and Johnson County Board of Supervisor Royceann Porter!

Anyone who has a love and curiosity for the food can try their hand at preparing:
Smothered chicken, Fried chicken, Ham, Ribs, Meatballs Spaghetti, Greens, Macaroni & Cheese, Fried Cabbage, Fried Corn; Black eyed peas, Dressing, Cornbread, Pound Cakes and Sweet Potato Pies.

A request for funds is needed to purchase food.  If you don't desire to cook a meal please consider donating towards the cost of the food.
This event will feed 300+ people in the Johnson County Community.

Foods/ Ingredients needed:
Chicken, Ribs, Ham, Meatballs, Spaghetti. Mac & Cheese, Collard Greens, Fried Cabbage, Dressing, Black Eyed Peas, Pinto Beans, Oxtails, Green Beans, Corn, Mashed Potatoes, Yams & Cornbread.
