2020 New Teachers Retreat

Tax deductible
Welcome to The New Teachers' Retreat Go Fund Me Page!  We're so excited to share our story with you!

Begun by a team of passionate educators, the New Teachers Retreat is a professional development opportunity specifically designed for teachers within their first 5 years of teaching. The 3-day Retreat offers a chance to leave daily life behind for a long weekend in the summer and refresh the arsenal of teaching strategies before entering the next year in the classroom. Through daily instructional sessions mixed with personal and collective planning and collaboration time, the New Teachers Retreat is not just an intensive training experience: it is a time to learn from experienced teacher mentors who've been there before. It’s also a time for open and honest conversation about the challenges teachers face in a caring, supportive environment. Topics covered in previous years include classroom management, self-care, cultural proficiency, lesson planning, using data, and parent engagement.

We have three successful years under our belts and we're excited to continue to grow in order to help more teachers in the field.  According to Casey McGill, a Vermont teacher who participated in 2017, “This is probably one of the most well-organized and well-structured PD programs that I have taken part in during my first three years in the field. I am looking forward to sharing this program with my school, my colleagues, and other young teachers in my life.  I am truly thankful for this experience and for having the opportunity to network with so many amazing professionals in our field. Thank you!!!”

With teacher shortages reaching crisis levels nation-wide and up to 50% of new teachers leaving within their first few years in the field, we know how essential this work is and have been encouraged by the enthusiastic responses of our previous participants. We hope you will consider joining us in supporting the next generation of teachers!

Please note that funds will be processed through our fiscal agent the Monadnock Economic Development Corporation who will direct them in totality to the New Teachers Retreat.
