2020 Annual Olinville Oldtimers Reunion

The Olinville Old-Timer’s Association Inc. is a not-for-profit community based organization operating out of the Bronx in New York City.  Our mission is to provide educational, recreational, and social service opportunities to residents of the Williamsbridge community, and surrounding neighborhoods in the Northeast Bronx comprising Community District #12. We accomplish this mission by creating events, activities, and services targeting adolescents and young adults as well as developing partnerships with local merchants, community organizations and educational institutions located in the Williamsbridge community, and surrounding areas.

Each year, the Association holds its Annual Olinville Old-Timers Reunion.  This year's reunion will be held on .   This event was initially founded in 1975 by Mr. Andy King Jr. a longtime resident of the community who provided recreational services to teenagers in the Williamsbridge community for many years. He, and a group of local residents annually gathered informally to eat, share stories and reminisce about the neighborhood.  last year, thanks to your generous contributions, we were able to raise close to $3000.00.  We are looking to surpass that total this year with your generosity.  This year's event will take place Saturday, July 11th 2020 at the newly renovated Agnes Heyward Playground on East 216th Street between White Plains Road and Barnes Avenue.

We have expanded our activities to provide a variety of educational, recreational and social services throughout the year, through partnerships with local health, educational and human service organizations in the community.  These activities include trips, back-to-school drives, tutoring, job readiness development, college fairs, health and job fairs and referrals to health and human service organizations, that as we grow, will cover the lifespan from school-age children, to seniors. We are holding our First "Job Readiness and Positive Youth Development Workshop" in April.  This workshop will provide young teenagers age 11-13 years old with an introduction to job readiness including "Dress for Success", "Resume Writing", "Interviewing Skills" and more, in an effort to begin instilling in young people the tools, and attitudes that lead to a successful adulthood. We also sponsor the Annual 2020 Russell Minus Memorial Basketball Tournament named in honor of the Late Russell Minus - A beloved and respected resident of the 12th District who dedicated much of his life to working with the youth of the community. The tournament will be played on the newly named Andy King Jr. Memorial Basketball Courts honoring the founder of our event.

We are looking to raise $10,000 by June 30, 2020 to cover the costs associated with our events.  As in past years, much of our costs will be covered out of our pockets. The money raised by our GoFundMe campaign is used to cover costs of the event such as food (we feed over 300 people annually at our event free of charge), activities such as face painting, amusements for the children, as well as entertainment, music, sound systems, portable restroom facilities etc.  The money is also used to fund activities for young teenagers such as trips to cultural events, books and materials for tutoring, recreational activities, and space for workshops such as job readiness, and financial literacy for teenagers.  We also serve food at these events and workshops free of charge for all teenagers in attendance.  We are currently awaiting our approval as a 501c3 organization, and all funds go to the year-round maintenance and coordination of events and activities for teenagers and young adults sponsored by the association.

The Olinville Oldtimer's Association is making a difference in the lives of teenagers in the Community by preparing them to be successful and responsible adults.  This is a unique opportunity to help us help them through your contributions, which are tax deductible.
