Each Spring the East Hanover Knights of Columbus Council 6504 conducts their annual Drive for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities.
All of the donations raised by the Knights goes to several local non-profit organizations dedicated to serving the needs of People with Intellectual Disabilities:
Autism Research, NJ Medical School , Rutgers University
Dominicks' Special Fund
Employment Horizon's
Friends of East Hanover
International Rett Syndrome Association
NJ Institute of Disabilities
Special Olympics of New Jersey
The Arc of Essex County
The Arc of Morris County
The Knights of Columbus Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities has been in existence since the 1970's, with local Councils across the U.S. and in Canada, supporting those with developmental disabilities. Knights of Columbus members from various councils within State Districts collect donations as part of the Knights’ country-wide effort to collect funds to for people with intellectual disabilities.
In the past, our primary source of collections was from our Brother Knights collecting on Street Corners which was successful. However, with increased traffic conditions, we have decided this method of collecting was too risky for our Brother Knights. We have now arranged to collect in front of stores in Town, but that has reduced the volume of Donations.
As a result, we are sharing this East Hanover - Knights of Columbus - People with Intellectual Disabilities heartfelt Video – with the convenient Fund Drive "GoFundMe" Site/Link, so you can consider helping us with this worthy cause, if you have not already done so. Please donate what you can, there is no Donation that is too small.
With less government aid allocated to these programs, the importance of private fundraising cannot be overemphasized. The leadership, energy, and enthusiasm of our Brother Knights and the generosity of their Families and Friends, will determine the success of this year’s program.
