2019 World School cheerleading comp

Donation protected
We are all students at the Ursuline College Sligo and are members of Silverstar Cheerleading. Earlier this year, the Ursuline cheerleading team received an invitation to compete in the USA at the 2019 World School Cheerleading Championships which will be held at the Walt Disney World® Resort on 9th-10th February 2019. The team will be the FIRST ever Irish school team to compete in this competition.  This acknowledgment is truly a testament to this dedicated team of girls.

The cheerleading team meets for training sessions on Tuesdays’ and Sundays’ under the direction of Ms. Emily Kelly and Ms. Jade Bonney. Cheer is a combination of acrobatic stunting, pyramids, gymnastic tumbling, and highly choreographed routines where synchronicity and difficulty are essential to a winning routine.

This invitation to compete in the USA will now provide us with the opportunity to further progress and represent our club, school, community and our country at international level.  There will be hundreds of teams from all over the world at the 2019 World School Cheerleading Championships and it is televised and streamed.

We have 20 athletes in our team for 2019 World School Cheerleading Championship ranging from our youngest athletes aged 12 to the older ones aged 16 .

This will be a huge event for all of them. For some, it will be their first time in the USA and performing at an international event, an amazing achievement for any 12-year-old from a cheer club in Ireland.  Our athletes are dedicated, talented, driven, committed, proud and focused young people that are ideal local and Irish ambassadors.

As you can imagine though, there will be much expense associated with taking a team away to participate in an international competition and the athletes will be relying solely on our own fundraising events and the very generous support of donors and local businesses to generate the required funding.

This is the first time ever that an Irish school team has had such an honour and it would be an awful shame to have any financal constraints impede the involvment of this talented team from competing at these championships.

As a club, we are looking for any possible financial assistance to assist us with our preparations and to help the club embrace this wonderful opportunity which has been afforded to us.  It will be really fantastic to have girls from Sligo represent Irish cheerleading on a truly international platform.

I do hope that this request for financial support is something you might be willing to consider.  We sincerely hope that you will kindly support our local Ursuline College Sligo Cheerleading team (Team Ireland) in this regard.  A huge thank you in advance for giving this your very kindest consideration.
