The Tartan Festival has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help fund to the 2019 Festival.
The Scottish Tartan Festival is on April 6, 2019, in Minden, Louisiana. The Festival celebrates Scottish culture and heritage with history exhibits, Scottish cattle herding, demonstrations of the Highland Games, Gaelic language seminars, bagpipe music, dog show competitions, a hayride in the children's area, Broadsword demonstrations, clan tents, genealogy, Scottish Highland Coo (beef) burgers, Bonniest Knees competition, Irish Dancers and Celtic music all day long.
The first Tartan Festival was in 2001. It started as a barbecue picnic for the Scottish Society on the Louisiana Hielands to celebrate Tartan Day. The members decided to put on a festival inviting the public with Doc Cameron offering Scotland Farms as the venue. The idea was and is to educate the public on Scottish Heritage and music in an entertaining way.
The festival needs your financial support this year. I plead for your support. The support is essential to present the best possible event. Your contribution will help with many of the costs such as the Celtic bands and dancers, stage work and audio work, tents, chairs, garbage, portapotties and many other needs too numerous to list.
This festival is a beautiful cultural expression that gives hope to the community. We live in a world where there are many problems. However, this event provides a positive, entertaining message of fun and learning that this world needs to see and hear. Help us to continue a positive expression of love for our community! Please give generously to make this the best festival ever! Any gift is greatly appreciated, and no gift is too small. Please consider a contribution of $1, $5, $10, $20 or even $100. Thank you for helping this cause, and please come out to see us!
